Look At Me

Look at me not thru me,
See me for who I really am
I am a mother, a daughter
A sister and a friend.

This body is just a vessel
Taking me thru life’s adventures
I am more that just the clothes I wear,
And the hair on top of my head.

Look at me not thru me,
Tell me what you see.

I am not your doormat, or your whore,
Your maid, nor your cook.
If you cannot see me for who I am
You need to take a closer look.

There is a soul inside this shell,
A being that is broken and hurt,
Living in her own private hell.

Look at me not thru me,
See me for who I really am
I am a mother, a daughter
A sister, and a friend.
