Happy Holidays

Hello to any of you out there who still read this tired ole thing.
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday time of year! This has been a busy 4 months. I went back to school after almost 5 years, boy what a life changing event. Cody turned 9, and FINALY got his skateboard. Taj & Sabrina celebrated their one year anniversary (awww). Worrying over money & how to pay full time bills on a part time salary. Thank you Mom, Taj & Sabrina!! Now Christmas is around the corner. I have to clean up the apartment (after finals), drag out the decorations and be MERRY! This is the first year that I am doing it alone in my own place with Cody. We have always had mom around to decorate. With her in Corpus, it falls to me. Am I ready for this? I know that I have to do this for Cody, who still believes in Santa btw, I just do not think that I am up for it. Perhaps getting everything decorated will make me merrier.
So in case you do not know what to get me, the girl who wants everything (ha ha), I once again have my Christmas list:
WINTER CANDY APPLE is now on sale online @ Bath & Body Works, as most of you know this is ONLY sold during the holidays, and is my absolute favorite!!!
Gift Cards to Wal-Mart, Bath & Body Works & Yankee Candle OR
Willow Breeze Yankee Candle
An assortment of Bath & Body Works hand soaps Pink Grapefruit is my favorite
Wal-Mart gift card
The Sims 3 World Adventure
pretty simple list huh? I figure this is the easiest way. Mom always forgets what I tell her, Devin sometimes too.

Hope everyone has a safe holiday.

Time flies

WOW,
I just noticed that I have been gone for a bit of time. I actually created a myspace page for some reason, I think it was because a friend was moving away and wanted to communicate that way or something, anyway, I have posted there a few times as well. Some of the things here are there too, but not all of them. There are some new posts there that are not here. Mainly some videos.
Anyway, I am heading back to school in August, 2 years to go, for my degree. I never should of quit. It will be easier now that Cody is older though. Almost 9, where has the time gone?

Well, time this morning has gone out the window apparently, as it is now time for me to get ready for work.

The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care

A friend sent this to me. I got a chuckle.
The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care
While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with my sister-in-law the other day, I think we have found the solution.
I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you're a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Let's take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon. So here is the solution.
When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4 bullets.
You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives.
Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need!!!
New teeth, great!!! Need glasses, no problem. New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart?
Well bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this.
The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care.
And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax. I really think we have a Perfect solution!!!

Online Dating?

So,
in an effort to break the 3 year slump, I signed up for a month @ a single parents dating site. I figure I might have more luck @ a site that caters to single parents, then again, I might not. BUT I told my sister that she got to choose my next "boyfriend", because I pick losers. Or they pick me. There was the fiance that was in the closet, until about 8 months before our wedding; the guy who mowed mud (not the brightest bulb); the guy who had the pregnant ex-wife AND was dating 4 other women @ the same time (that was the last one, boy did he ever snow me); the narcissist... those are the ones that I went out with more than a month. There were several that I recognized as losers right off the bat. Honestly, the best relationship I've had was with my sons father, but that was short term, due to his living in another country and all. Then once he found out, he disappeared.
ANYWAY back to my original thought process here. Since my sister is supposed to pick my next "boyfriend", how is that going to work on an online dating site? Am I supposed to tell someone "Sorry, you have to pass the sister test first"?
Why does it have to be so hard to meet a nice decent man? sigh...

"I'm not one of those guys"

Seriously? O.K. so I was reading "He's just not that into you", and I just began it, but the first chapter or so talks about how guys DO NOT like it when women ask them out. Apparently they like the thrill of the chase. They need to feel like they were in control of their destiny.
O.K., fine, good, I can handle that. Rule 1. Let them ask you out.
However I have a tip for you boys, guys, men, whatever you are calling yourselves these days.
Never tell a woman "I am not one of those guys" , because that tells us that you are.
If we tell you that we are not ready to let you know our phone number, our address, our place of employment, or any number of things it is because we do not know you well enough yet.
"What do you think I am going to do? Stalk you?" Well we might, or we might be concerned for our kids, if we are single moms, or hey it just is not that smart to be telling someone all of our private information right up front. Don't take it personally, we do it to all the boys, guys, men, whatever....

What do you think?

I know that not many people read this blog, and that is alright, but for those of you who do tell me what you think.
Times have changed so much in the last 15-20 years, and gender roles are not what they used to be. Is it alright for a woman to ask a man out? I mean I am pushing 40, I have never been married, and I am more than ready to break the 3 years since my last date record. So is it alright, or accepted to ask a man out?
Well I did. Sorta. I sent him an email on MySpace. He is someone I used to work with, and still works with my sister. He is a really sweet guy, and we have a few things in common. My sister kept telling me that he liked me, so I figured I would ask him out and see what happened. Well... I'm thinking that maybe I should of asked my question prior to taking the plunge, cuz I got no reply.
Also, in the age of "cougars" how many years difference is too much? An older woman and younger man situation, has always bothered me. For me it was 2 years younger was my limit. Now it seems more acceptable, so how many years is too much? 5, 8, 10?
